FaceX – Smart Attendance Solution at Tan Son Nhat International Airport (TIA)

Tan Son Nhat International Airport (TIA) is the largest international airport in Vietnam, covering an area of 850 hectares and serving millions of passengers annually. In order to meet the demand for controlling and tightening security in the airport area, TIA is seeking a personnel management solution and has chosen FaceX – an intelligent facial recognition system developed by VTI to address this challenge.

Requirements of Tan Son Nhat International Airport

  1. Attendance tracking for 2300 – 2400 personnel at a Port, operating in 3 shifts 24/7 through various methods
  • Facial recognition
  • QR code scanning
  • GPS positioning on a mobile app at specific locations with coordinates and radius constraints for attendance tracking
  1. A system of display screens showing real-time images of successful and unsuccessful facial recognition and voice authentication
  2. Data accessed in Excel format, with monthly reporting capabilities.

VTI’s Implement Solution

Phase 1 (June – October 2023):

  • Install FaceX devices at 14 locations.
  • Implement attendance tracking and flexible shift allocation for all Port personnel using web and mobile app platforms (standard functionality).

Phase 2 (Scheduled for 2024):

Implement the remaining attendance tracking methods, particularly focusing on entry and exit control at specific locations with high-security requirements. This will involve:

  • QR code scanning.
  • GPS positioning on the mobile app at specific locations with coordinates and radius constraints for attendance tracking.
  • Enhance the existing system by adding supplementary display screens that show real-time images of successful and unsuccessful facial recognition, as well as voice authentication outcomes.

  • 100% automated, fast, accurate, and transparent attendance tracking
  • The system organizes a minimum of 150 work shifts for a large number of personnel across 54 units under the port headquarters and 5 centers (training, terminal operations, runway operations, control, and security)

  • Ensures that employees in various departments adhere to their assigned shifts and allocated work durations, forming the basis for calculating salary payments as per contracts.
  • Effective management of overtime/leave
  • The deployment on a web and mobile app platform facilitates real-time updates of attendance information, system notifications, and quick approval of requests, offering convenience for both employees and administrators.
